Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We try to collect as little as possible. We do not sell your personal information.
1. Who we are
SolarScout ("we," "us") is operated by Navecta LLC. It provides solar and roofing estimation tools used directly by homeowners and by sales reps / contractors ("operators") who may embed our tools on their own sites.
2. Information we collect
- Account data: if you create an account — your email and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text). Optionally your name and company name.
- Estimate inputs: addresses or coordinates you enter, roof configuration, and the resulting estimates. Address geocoding is processed to return a location.
- Lead data: if you submit your details through an operator's embedded widget or a shared estimate, we collect the name, email, phone, and address you provide and pass it to that operator (see §4).
- Billing data: if you subscribe, payment is handled by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number — only a Stripe customer/subscription identifier and your plan status.
- Technical data: IP address (used for rate-limiting and abuse prevention), and standard request metadata. Some preferences are stored in your browser's local storage on your device.
3. How we use it
- To provide estimates, save your history, and generate shareable reports.
- To operate accounts, process subscriptions, and prevent abuse (rate-limiting).
- To deliver lead notifications to the operator whose widget you used.
- To communicate service or account information you request.
We do not use your data for third-party advertising, and we do not sell or rent personal information.
4. How information is shared
- With operators: if you submit a lead through an operator's embedded widget or shared link, your details are sent to that operator so they can follow up. That operator is independently responsible for how they use your information.
- With service providers that help us run the product: Cloudflare (hosting, database, storage), Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), Google Maps Platform (geocoding/imagery), and the U.S. NREL PVWatts service (production calibration). These providers process data only to perform their service.
- For legal reasons: if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the service.
5. Cookies & local storage
We use a single secure, HttpOnly cookie to keep you signed in. We use your browser's local storage to remember preferences and free-tier usage counts on your device. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
6. Data retention
We keep account and estimate data while your account is active. Lead data is retained for the operator who collected it. You can request deletion at any time (see §8); we will delete data we control except where we must retain it for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons.
7. Security
Passwords are hashed (PBKDF2). Sessions use signed tokens in secure, HttpOnly cookies. We transmit data over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the CCPA and GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to opt out of sale (we don't sell it). To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. If you submitted a lead to an operator and want it removed, you may also need to contact that operator directly.
9. Children
SolarScout is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

11. Changes
We may update this policy; we'll revise the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you.
