We make money from contractors who pay for the field-tool version and from businesses that license the engine — not from you. Checking your own quote costs nothing.

Do you sell my info to salespeople? +

No. We're not a lead broker and we don't auction your details to a wall of installers — the entire point is helping you not get pitched. The estimates run in your browser; we don't sell, rent, or trade your information. See our privacy policy for the specifics.

You don't sell solar or roofs — so how is this honest? +

That's exactly why it's honest: no installer pays us to nudge your number, so we have no reason to make solar look better (or worse) than it is. We show ranges to verify with a licensed pro, and we'll tell you plainly when the honest answer is "not worth it yet" — that independence is the whole product.

How accurate are the estimates? +

We use NOAA solar position (<0.01°) and Hottel/Perez irradiance models, calibrated to NREL PVWatts (real weather data) when available. Calibrated, expect roughly ±10–15% of actual production; on the regional model alone, roughly ±20–30%. Treat the figures as ranges to verify with a licensed installer — not guarantees. Note: the 30% federal residential tax credit expired Dec 31, 2025, so 2026 estimates assume no federal credit for owned systems.

Do I need an account? +

No. The homeowner tools and the free tier work instantly — no signup, no email, no credit card. Reps create an account only to save history, share branded results, or export PDF reports.
