Terms of Service

Last updated: June 6, 2026 · SolarScout is a product of Navecta LLC.

By using SolarScout, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

1. The service

SolarScout provides software tools that estimate solar energy production, savings, and roofing costs from the inputs you provide. It is an estimation and sales-support tool, not an engineering, financial, tax, or legal advisory service.

2. Estimates — important disclaimer

All production, savings, cost, payback, and bid figures are estimates based on models and the inputs provided — not guarantees, quotes, or promises of results. Actual outcomes vary with weather, equipment, installation quality, shading, your utility's rate and net-metering policy, financing terms, and incentive availability.

Production estimates are typically within about ±10–15% when calibrated to NREL PVWatts, and roughly ±20–30% using the regional model alone. Savings figures assume net metering and represent a range, not a fixed amount.

The federal residential solar tax credit (IRC §25D) expired on December 31, 2025; estimates assume no federal credit for customer-owned systems unless you indicate otherwise. State and local incentives change frequently — verify current availability. Always confirm numbers with a licensed installer and your utility before making a purchase decision. You are responsible for decisions made using these estimates.

3. Accounts

You're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it current.

4. Subscriptions & billing

Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis through Stripe. You can cancel anytime; your plan remains active through the current billing period and then reverts to the Free tier. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. Prices may change with notice.

5. Operator (widget / lead-capture) responsibilities

If you embed our widget or capture leads, you are the controller of the homeowner information you collect. You are responsible for obtaining any required consent, providing your own privacy disclosures, honoring opt-outs, and complying with applicable laws (including TCPA, CAN-SPAM, and state solar-sales and consumer-protection rules). You may not use SolarScout to send unsolicited communications or to make deceptive savings or incentive claims.

6. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the service: no unlawful, infringing, or deceptive use; no attempts to breach security, scrape at scale, overload, or reverse-engineer the service; no reselling access except as expressly permitted by your plan.

7. Intellectual property

SolarScout and its software are owned by Navecta LLC. You retain ownership of the data you input; you grant us a limited license to process it to provide the service. Reports you generate are yours to use in your business.

8. Third-party services

The service relies on third parties (e.g., Cloudflare, Stripe, Resend, Google Maps Platform, NREL). Their availability and accuracy are outside our control.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that estimates will be accurate or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Navecta LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service or from reliance on any estimate. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or USD $100 if you paid nothing).

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify Navecta LLC against claims arising from your use of the service, your content or leads, or your violation of these terms or applicable law.

12. Termination

You may stop using the service anytime. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms or to protect the service. Sections that by their nature should survive (e.g., disclaimers, liability limits) will survive termination.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, unless your local law requires otherwise.

14. Changes

We may update these terms; we'll revise the "last updated" date and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. Continued use means you accept the changes.
